I recently posted a Reel on my Instagram account where I really got real. A real Reel, if you will.

Through the lens of someone who has never met me, I realize that my social media accounts may create an illusion that I am one to always be dressed to the nines, hair on fleek and nails never chipped… Admittedly, I’ve received a few apprehensive comments on social media in recent months questioning my character based on the way my Instagram portrays how I spend my time. I could go into countless reasons why I believe it’s wrong to judge someone based on just a small (and very controlled—sometimes even warped) sliver of reality that is one’s Instagram feed, but today that is aside the point.
Like many others, I do control what I share on social media. I have a passion for fashion and luxury, and so that is primarily what I share. Aside from content creation, I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a daughter… I have a job and I run errands and I change diapers just like most working mothers. Most of this I keep private from my social accounts, and that is my prerogative. The point is that there is much more that goes on behind the scenes, and that fashion and content creation is simply a fun way for me to unplug!
“Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.”
-Robin S. Sharma
For me, fashion and luxury have long been one of my favorite ways to invest in myself. Since I was a young girl, I’ve always loved to play dress up! It was only about a year ago that I took this passion a step further and began to share it on social media. My daughter, Noa, had just been born, so in doing so, many of my friends and family members questioned how I was spending my time as a new mother. Admittedly, I began to question if I was being selfish with my time… but as I looked a bit deeper, I realized that by investing just a few hours each weekend into my fashion and content creation, I was giving myself just the boost I needed to be able to fully pour into my home and family life!
By investing time and money into my wardrobe and my content, I’ve created a healthy balance between work, motherhood, and home life. I believe the reason why is that I allow myself a creative outlet in which I can fully feel ME. Aside from myself as a mother, myself as an employee, myself as a wife…. I simply can enjoy the freedom of doing something I love for no reason other than that I want to. I’ve created a space for myself to unplug and refill my cup. After all, as I’ve mentioned before on Instagram, nobody can pour from an empty cup!
I believe that this applies to everyone’s life. Whether it’s work, your relationship, children, or a balance of it all, I would encourage you to find something that you love outside of all these things. Something that provides you with just enough time to reconnect with who you are in relation to YOU, not in relation to what you do.
So, what is it that lights you up!? I challenge you to go out and do it… and trust me, you won’t feel so guilty about taking some time for yourself once you realize how much more energy you’ll have for other areas of life when you’re done.
Let go of fear of judgement or the fear of not having enough time, and make a little space for you to just do you!
XOXO
