I’ve been hearing a lot lately about what it means to be a high-value woman. My initial response to hearing this phrase was confusion and, admittedly, a little bit of disgust. Aren’t we all equally and wonderfully made? Of course!! But as I learned more about the concept of a high-value woman, I realized that the true underlying meaning of being high-value has nothing to do with your “value” at all, and everything to do with how you wish to be perceived by others, and what you want for yourself out of life.
A “high-value” woman, is one who spends time day by day working toward becoming her best self. She understands that in order to pour into others, she must first fill her own cup. A quick and easy exercise that I like to do each morning as I get ready is to ask… What would the absolute BEST version of me look like today? What would she do? How would she treat herself and others? I then use this image of my best self to influence my actions throughout the day… and it all starts with the clothes that I put on! I may fall short from time to time, but part of the reason I am sharing this with you all is so that we can all hold each other accountable. Rihanna said it best, “…when you look good, you feel good…” I agree, we owe it to ourselves.
My version of a high-value woman looks something like this…. She is clean, she is organized. She takes care of herself by allowing herself to rest when she needs it, but she always presents a collected and groomed version of herself that demands respect. She takes care of her family and friends, and is able to love them and care for them to her best ability because she first took the time to do the same for herself.

A high-value woman dresses in clothes that make her feel confident. Being and feeling put together day by day (to whichever extent feels right!) is an important way to show yourself and others that you KNOW that you are worthy of their respect.
I love the look above because it displays confidence and courage, but does so in a way that is still feminine and sexy. Would you mess with her? I sure wouldn’t! To me, this look is one that a high-value woman would wear because it displays class. A high-value woman will always dress classy, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice sexy, cute, and trendy.
Nothing says high-value like the image above! This look shows what looks like a display of power to me… with a mix of masculine and feminine flare, I certainly feel a sense of independence from this outfit. She’s the woman, and it shows! You don’t have to know her, but based off of her look… she knows it and so do we.
The image above is a true classic. Nothing says feminine and sexy like a classic pleated skirt and turtleneck sleeveless top. This elegant, well-executed look simply cannot be beat, as it nails every aspect of the perfect outfit right on the head! Classic? Feminine? Sexy? Modern? Check.
The three examples I provided in this post all embody what I believe it means to dress like a high-value woman. However, for you it might look different. That is okay! As a Black woman, and working mom, I believe that dressing high-value allows me to fully step into my best self. I feel more productive, more organized, and simply more available to show up as my best self.
