If you’re anything like me, your sense of style can quickly become an expensive habit. Designer clothes, shoes and bags don’t come at a cheap price. While buying “dupes” from Amazon can be a great alternative to the “real deal,” it is likely that you’ll only get a season or two out of them until the true quality of the item begins to show. One of my favorite ways to overcome this obstacle is to shop on Poshmark. Keep reading for 5 essential categories to look for when building your dream wardrobe!
I’ve been using Poshmark for a couple of years now. Not only is it a great place to search for affordable pieces, but it is a fun way to recycle your own items. Selling your items is rewarding because you not only can make a little extra cash, but you can feel good about giving your gently worn pieces to a great new home. Plus, it’s motivation to clean out your closet on a regular basis!
So… ready to hear my tips on building the perfect closet!?
Search for brands you already love.
Any time I purchase an article of clothing online, I try to order from brands that I already know I love. There is nothing more disappointing than ordering something and being disappointed with the quality or size upon arrival! The same goes for Poshmark. Keep a list of your favorite brands or pieces, and simply search for them on Poshmark. Poshmark is home to many gently (and sometimes never!) worn articles from Lululemon, Freepeople, Anthropologie, Steve Madden, and SO many more. Pro tip: shop for great deals on items from brands known for quality.
Seek accessories.
Accessorizing might not be at the top of your mind when trying to build up your wardrobe. However, great accessories have the ability to elevate any simple look! Poshmark is an amazing place to search for jewelry, scarves, handbags and more. There are many listings featuring quality leather bags as well as Chanel, Gucci, and YSL jewelry pieces. However, if you choose to shop high-end designer goods on Poshmark, do search for some type of authentication.
Shop Basics!
Denim, basic tees, hoodies, matching sets… We all need them, but sometimes it is too easy to get distracted by statement pieces or fancy looks. Don’t forget to search for basics on Poshmark. Sometimes you can even find them “NWT” (new with tags!), which brings me to my next category…
Shop NWT!
NWT items are all over Poshmark, you just have to be willing to search. There are filters you can apply to any search to narrow down your options. Search for “NWT” items, and find something you love… There is nothing better than ordering something brand new, but for less!
Follow your favorite Poshers
My last, and possibly most important suggestion is to follow your favorite Poshers on social media. If you love someone’s style, there’s not better way to attain it by purchasing their exact items second hand! Often times people post recently listed Poshmark items to their social media pages, so this is a great way to be the first to find out. Pro tip: Look for someone similar in size to you whose fashion you love, so that you know their items will fit!
